
If it seems like everyone has a Facebook account except you, and you are curious to see what it is all about, you can sign up for a free account. Use the account to keep in touch with your family and friends and to network with new friends.
- Go to the Facebook sign-in page at Facebook.com using your favorite Web browser.On the right-hand side of the page, under “Sign Up,” type in your name, email address, password and birthday. Click on the green “Sign up” button.
- Type in the security check word verification on this screen and click “sign up” again. Review the terms of service and privacy policy.
- Enter your email address and password to see if some of your friends are already on Facebook. Skip this step if you would like to.
- Fill out your profile. Enter your high school, college, and company information on this screen. When your done, click “save and continue.” Skip this step if you do not want to put in this information.
- Upload a photo. Click “Upload a Photo” then click on “browse” and select a picture that you want to use. Click “save and continue.” Skip this step and do it later if you wish.
- You now have a new Facebook account. Now you can find people or edit your profile further.
- Check your email. Facebook will send you an account confirmation email, which contains a link that you, must click on to complete your registration.
Update Information
On the profile tab click “Update Info”. You can click “Edit” to update information about yourself, including: Basic Information, Personal Information, Contact Information, Education & Work. Any groups or pages you like will also show here as well. The new profile conveniently allows you to input and sort information in blocks more than the old profile did.
Adding A Profile Picture!
Once you have uploaded a photo you can click on it, wherein you will be given an option to make it your profile picture. In the lower right-hand corner of the screen, click on “Make Profile Picture.” You will then be prompted to crop the picture. Once you are finished cropping the photo, click “done cropping.” The photo is now your profile picture. Now with the new timeline, you can also add a cover photo. Best that the image is larger or close to the size of the image area, as a smaller image will scale up and become articulated (pixel stretching).
Tips & Warnings
- You will be able to change or edit your profile after signing up.
- Make sure not to forget to check your email for the confirmation email.
- Keep your password safe and do not share it with anyone.
- Make that password a combination of letters, numbers and case size.
