Facebook sent out this message to Page owners in the weekly page update. I usually ignore this email as it mostly is just stats that one can access in more depth from the page:
Hi,
On April 26, we will be updating the size of the profile picture on all Pages. We are letting you know about this small change in advance so that you can update your profile picture on April 26. The new profile picture will be 160 x 160 pixels and will sit at 23 pixels from the left and 210 pixels from the top of the Page.
The question is – will it have the white border around it or not?
In any case, I looked at both scenarios and believe that the border will stay. These images are not templates and not set to the pixel, but give a good idea of what is going to happen.
If they do not use a border it will look something like this:
More than likely the border will stay. Note how the name of the page will also be moving. Does this now mean a limitation on the Page name in terms of characters?
As usual, thanks for the notice in a reasonable amount of time Facebook. If you have an integrated profile and cover photo, I would perhaps wait to see what is going to pan out and make them not integrated for the day it happens.
If you want to you could play with your personal profile image and cover photo. This is already using the 160×160 size, BUT is 23 from the left and 200 NOT 210 from the top.
Good luck with that. Post a response below if you have any thing you want to share/comment on this.
