Attention to the Details

Running ads on YouTube to promote your video is nothing new. Neither is paying attention to details.

I ran across this ad on YouTube. Interested I clicked.

What I got was a video that gave me zero value. Some of the comments showed that posting a video about what is in the food is not a great idea when it comes to fast food. One comment was “To answer any of these questions, watch Supersize Me.

Besides the off the rails idea of the video,  someone managing the assets for McDonalds made this an unlisted video, and worse still, didn’t even bother with editing the title which defaults to the original file name on upload.

Come on McDonalds you either have someone who doesn’t know what they are doing managing this or you fail to understand the medium. Maybe a bit of both.

The take-away here is that you should make sure you double check everything that you are doing and treat online as you would a printed piece. I can’t see them sending out a print ad with a title saying “Insert Message Here”. Can you?
