iPhowners React to Bad Battery Life

Fed up with the decreasing battery life on my iPhone I asked a question to my friends on Facebook. Surprisingly there is quite a discontent for the closed,  costly and lower than expected quality that the iPhone is. If you are thinking of buying an iPhone for the cool factor, think again perhaps and look for your own uncool. They may sell a lot of iPhones, but if the silliness such as forcing a new doc converter for the 5 (more money at $40 a pop) then Apple could be set for a fall from grace.

BTW there are some great tips about battery life. Thanks Friends.

Here’s the response which I edited only to remove names and spelling for clarity. Oh and do you like my iPhone owners tag? #iPhowners. Laugh.

For those iPhowners out there… should my battery be lasting only a day now that it is a year and a half old (iPhone4)?

  • I charge every couple of days and I’ve had mine for more than 2-years now. Are you shutting down apps every now and then? I understand this helps to preserve power. :)
  • Mine is. I haven’t updated to the latest iOS yet, and I wondered if that had something to do with it. Keep me posted on what you find out. I’m so tired of being somehow forced to upgrade my technology. I like to drive it into the ground before I do.
  • I close all the apps I’m not using. I made it a habit about a month in after getting this phone. Tell me, can the batteries be replaced in these phones without being too spendy on it? I sure hope so. I don’t want to replace my phone until I absolutely have to.
  • If I’m using it quite a bit, and I get a lot of calls or text, then mine only lasts a day. If I ignore it, and it doesn’t vibrate at all, it might last three days.
  • The newest iOS suffers a few glitches that will up the battery usage. Check to make sure that your email checking schedule is as it used to be, that blue tooth is shut off, and that unused apps are shut down.
  • However, that being said, my 4 has been on a nitty charging schedule from day one, so your experience sounds consistent
  • I have the 3GS but I refuse to buy up until this one dies.
  • Yeah, moving forward, I won’t be buying any piece of electronics from a company that doesn’t allow me to exercise a bit of control over the power source.
  • I am tired of all the proprietary shit. My next mobile is unlikely to be an apple product
  • I have the 4 too and it barely ever lasts a full day. Screw you Apple.
  • Or, alternatively, you could just finally dispel your apple myths and abandon the fuckin thing all together!
  • Close everything you aren’t using. That makes a huge difference.
  • Make sure the Settings>General>About>Advertising>Limit Ad Tracking is set to ON other wise it’s always transmitting/receiving info.
  • That’s a good one, I hadn’t heard that one before. Just turned it off, see if that makes any difference.
  • Also the apps that continually update your location or send receive data are the ones you really want to quit as soon as you’ve used them… as they are the real battery hogs
