Facebook Reaches One Billion – Accounts

After months of bad news from Facebook, finally it has something good to say. On October 4, 2012 Facebook announced 1 Billion users (say that with the Dr. Evil overtone – One beeeeeliooon) Or does it. I am wondering how many of the 1 billion accounts are real. Does that number include those who have now left and there fore is active accounts only? In anycase the number is quite important. If it is all about reach, Facebook is by and far the place to conduct reach for your product.

This morning, there are more than one billion people using Facebook actively each month.
If you’re reading this: thank you for giving me and my little team the honor of serving you.
Helping a billion people connect is amazing, humbling and by far the thing I am most proud of in my life.
I am committed to working every day to make Facebook better for you, and hopefully together one day we will be able to connect the rest of the world too.

Facebook also launched a video titled ‘The Things That Connect Us’ to commemorate the 1 billion milestone.  I am not sure if the chair aspect was a rip from the recent Clint Eastwood debacle at the Republican convention, but is the main focus of the first ad campaign by Facebook that targets those who would be apt to advertise.
