From time to time I receive requests for measurement tools to measure the reach of a twitter account and it’s efficacy when it comes to the tweeting. While there is no one tool that can give you all the information you need, the following do a good job as a collection to let you know how you are doing. All of them allow you to upgrade for a price, but the free versions are also of good value.

Tweet Reach
My favorite to go place for instant reach. This does a great job visually and succinctly of showing who retweeted you, thier reach, your reach and the amount of overall impressions of your tweets. Now if only one could specify a period, but that is what an upgrade plan is for no doubt. I don’t plan to get one at this time.
Timely
Timely allows you to gauge how well you are doing in the timing of your posts. The best hours are during the morning and afternoon for the segment I am targeting on my account with regard to social media. This would make sense seeing as I am looking for those who would be researching information during peak business hours. Sees I could be doing a better job from this report, but usually I am mobile tweeting or social sharing from a page as I come across it rather than trying to schedule it for later.
Tweet Grader
Twitter Grader looks ar the impact you are having in comparison to other accounts. This of course is if the other accounts were put into tweet grader. They do post interesting information on how they actually grade you. The grade is calculated as the approximate percentage of other users that have an equal or lower score. So, a Twitter Grade of 80 means that about 80% of the other users of Tweet Grader got a lower score. The latest number of users is from 2009 – 2.1 million users of Tweet Grader.
Peer Index
This tool requests a connection with twitter, so it is doing a little more digging. From a peer perspective, this tool looks at
Peer Index claims that “If you have a blog, linking it to PeerIndex will enable us to improve the accuracy of (the) authority calculations for you.” They also ask you to tweet your profile as well to improve accuracy, but I am not about to do that for them. My followers don’t appreciate spam.
Your overall PeerIndex score is a relative measure of your online authority. The PeerIndex Score reflects the impact of your online activities, and the extent to which you have built up social and reputational capital on the web. Wow – I must suck as I have a 39.
You also can compare yourself to others. Handy. Again not to be taken too seriously depending on whom you are trying to compare yourself too. Myself vs Pet Cashmore is not the same as Sears vs The Bay per se.
So as you can see from above – each has a strength and all have multiple holes but that is how it works with free services. Using more than one is the proper ‘ting to do.
