Facebook: The 1. 2. 3. of It.

Facebook is unique from a website. It is not a website, but part of a destination.

Facebook is a social utility for connecting people with those around them – friends, family, coworkers, or simply others with similar interests. Facebook started in 2004 as a closed community for college students (requiring users to sign up with a valid university email address) but has since expanded beyond that to  any user across the world. Facebook allows users to connect and share information in a variety of ways.

Beyond that, let’s take a quick look at the latest numbers of the number one social network:

  • Facebook has over one Billion active users and that number continues to grow steadily.
  • It is the second most trafficked website in the world (behind Google) and the most trafficked social media site in the world.
  • The fastest growing demographic is people over 40.
  • Canada has the highest percentage of online population on Facebook with close to 72% of the Canadian population with Internet access accounts being on Facebook.

When organizations start off with Facebook, many consultation focuses without any realization that one can direct advertising to many places in a page that can be created for just such an endevour.

Having a great tab or page app content is very important, but one must also have other tabs that give support for posts.

Daily posts is where one shines. As a poster – you have to compete with one’s friends (average of 140 in Canada – the highest number of friends per user of all Facebook countries) and also other page feeds. But the good news is with the right incentive, the interaction quotient rises.
